The AST Freeride Developmental Program is designed for athletes training at Sundance who aim to develop their freeride skills, with the ultimate goal of joining the A or B Teams and competing in IFSA events. Freeride Devo athletes will train at Woodwards on Mondays, Sundance on Tuesday nights, and Saturdays.
Please complete this application. This does not guarantee a spot on the Freeride Team. Due to the type of training and our desire to keep very high quality instruction to committed athletes, space on this program is very limited.

*Woodward membership is NOT included
*Transportation to Woodward IS included
Freeride Devo Team Athletes may be invited to the B Team throughout the season based on performance and goals.
training schedule:
June - November: Strength and Conditioning Program. Summer Camps.
December - Early April: On snow & Maintenance Workouts
•Monday nights at Woodward* - starting in December, 4-8pm
•Tuesday nights at Sundance Slalom Training* - starting in January, 4:30-7:30pm
•Wednesday Park Training at Sundance - starting in January, 3:30-5:30pm
•Saturday Race Training, Park & Big Mtn at Sundance - starting in December, 6:30-12pm
•Mini Big Mtn Comp at Sundance in February
•U12s & U14s may still compete in South Series Races and are strongly encouraged to, but not required. Everyone should do the Soda League Races

MANDATORY GEAR LIST:
•Freeride Big Mtn Skis - Talk to Tyson for recommendations
•Park Skis (your big mtn skis can often double as park skis if they are under 105mm underfoot width)
•Slalom or Giant Slalom skis for gate training. (Shin & pole guards are recommended if you have slalom skis)
•Chest/Spine Protection (This Troy Lee Designs one works great, and if you order with CB Cycles in Orem we can get you 30% off. Just say you are on Outlaw.)
•Freeride Helmet (and race helmet if you want to race South Series)
•Poles
•High-Quality boots that fit properly
FREERIDE DEVO ATHLETE REQUIREMENTS:
U12's and U14's must continue their racing skill development on Arrowhead Ski Team and pursue the above race requirements for the U14/U15 Freeride program.

-35 Consecutive Push Ups - chest to deck & full elbow extension at the top
-100 Squats in 2:00 - cheeks to sneaks & full knee/hip extension at the top
-6 Strict Pull Ups - deadhang, hands facing away from you, chin completely over the bar
-5:00 Plank Hold on elbows
-1:00 Hollow Body Hold - lower back maintains contact with the ground, heels & hands no more 12" above the ground
-40 Lateral 16" Box Jumps in 1:00
-Sub 7:30 mile run
-400m Run in under 1:30
-Standing Back Flip (on tramp, no jump is ok)
-Freestanding Handstand - against wall for 30 sec
-A perfect CartWheel both ways
-Backflip and misty, on tramps
-Set and update goals quarterly
-Have the most fun, everyday, all day. Bring the energy!
-Pursue as many sports as possible
-Pursue education outside of school
-Get 8+ hours of sleep each night
-Consistency, Commitment, Character
-Honor Mother Nature - Do something daily that reduces your footprint or damage to Earth
-Breathe - Daily breathwork and meditation to access Flow easier
-Become comfortable in the uncomfortable - challenge yourself daily to do something that scares you or that you hate doing. Cold showers, eating veggies, homework, chores, picking up creepy crawlies, tuning your skis, etc.
-Spend the majority of your day in nature
-Volunteer at least 4 hours a month - Monthly report to Tyson
-Commit to a drug, alcohol, and nicotine lifestyle
