freeride Team
u15 & U19+
A & B teams, invite only

We have a solid history of Freeride athletes doing amazing things in this realm, and we've always operated a bit under the radar as a Freeride program. Now, we are making the leap and creating a legit team to serve this growing population of skiers and provide a much needed space for these athletes. Freeride or Big Mountain athletes will train at Snowbird, Woodward, and Sundance - and compete at local and regional IFSA events to earn points to qualify for the North American Championships and then onto the Freeride Junior World Championships. Competition is an option on the team and is highly recommended. However, it is not mandatory.

We aim to do things differently with this program, with the biggest difference being that it's very challenging to get onto the team. Due to the nature of the sport and the services we provide, we are very limited on the amount of athletes we can support on the upper levels, and we want you to earn your spot on this program so that you put in maximum effort all year long.

This team is for those who want to have fun no matter the conditions, day, or attitude. We do not tolerate complaints without solutions and will quickly correct you if you have a negative/fixed mindset. Athletes will receive regular feedback and will be challenged to coach themselves so they can process the information and internalize it to learn it faster. We build COMPETENCY and CONFIDENCE in all situations so you can build the MOTIVATION to push yourself and your teammates to achieve the 'impossible.'

Any of the following criteria would be an automatic qualification for the

A Team:

IFSA Rankings:

• U19 Men - Top 100

• U19  Women - Top 75

• U15  Women - Top 40

• U15  Men - Top 60

• 2 or more podiums at a 3* event

• A podium at NORAM's

For the A team, we are looking for committed athletes that understand big mountain skiing and are podium contenders. Invites are based on past performance and who we think can perform in the future because of current work ethic and skills. Completing the Outlaw Freeride Team requirements below will help significantly in that decision.

u15/u19 Athlete requirements:

U15's and U19's must have either finished in the top 15 Tri-Divisionals, or qualified for U14 Regionals the year before. If you are a first year U15, then you must have qualified and finished in the top 20 of IMD Champs the previous year. If you have not reached that level in racing, then you must train slalom on Tuesday nights at Sundance while on the freeride program. Why? Because learning to carve skis in a slalom turn on hardpack snow is a critical skill for controlling your skis on variable, steep terrain such as that found on freeride venues. This is a proven protocol for our previous athletes that have qualified for the Freeride World Tour (Dillon Flinders and Tams Marvell.)

-DISCLAIMER if you can 'outcarve' Coach Tyson or Coach Dillon on Regulator AND Great Scott, we may make exceptions.
